Privacy Policy

The short version: We collect your email address to create your account and process your payment. We don't sell your data, share it with third parties for marketing purposes, or do anything with it you wouldn't expect. You can delete your account at any time by contacting us.
1. Who we are
EDP Study Tool is a product of Cherry & Elm LLC, a professional services and software company based in Helena, Arkansas. We operate the website studyedp.com and all services available through it.

2. What we collect
We collect the minimum information necessary to provide the service:
- Email address — used to create your account, send your receipt, and communicate with you about the service.
- Password — stored securely and encrypted by Supabase. We never have access to your plaintext password.
- Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card number, expiration date, or CVV. We only receive a confirmation that payment was successful.
- Study progress — your quiz scores, question history, and accuracy data are stored locally in your browser and are not transmitted to our servers.
- Usage data — anonymized quiz scores are stored in our database to calculate percentile rankings. These are not linked to your identity.
3. How we use your information
We use your information only to:
- Create and manage your account
- Verify your license status and grant access to the tool
- Send transactional emails (receipts, password resets, license confirmations)
- Send occasional product updates and announcements about the EDP Study Tool — you can opt out at any time by replying to any email or contacting us directly
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.
4. How we store your information
Your account data is stored securely using Supabase, a SOC 2 Type II certified database platform. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Supabase's privacy policy is available at supabase.com/privacy.
Payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
5. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate the EDP Study Tool:
- Supabase — user authentication and database (account data, license records)
- Stripe — payment processing and billing portal
- Netlify — website hosting and serverless functions
- Anthropic (Claude API) — AI-powered explanations generated when you answer a question incorrectly. Your question and answer are sent to Anthropic's API to generate the explanation. Anthropic's privacy policy is available at anthropic.com/privacy.
We do not share your personal information with any other third parties.
6. Cookies and local storage
We use browser local storage (not traditional cookies) to store your study progress and settings on your device. This data never leaves your browser and is not accessible to us. You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or resetting your progress within the tool.
We use session storage to maintain your login state during your browser session. This is cleared automatically when you close the browser tab.
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data by contacting us
- Delete your account and associated data by emailing info@cherryandelm.com
- Opt out of marketing emails at any time
- Port your data — we will provide your account data in a machine-readable format on request

8. Children's privacy
The EDP Study Tool is intended for adult professionals pursuing the IEDC Economic Development Professional certification. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, if the changes are material, notify you by email. Your continued use of the service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
